The CTW is a 501(c)3 educational non-profit that does not receive institutional, private donor or grant funding. For our Summer School, we maintain a sliding scale down to zero for the program fees, and we do everything that we can to work with people’s financial needs. However, as an independent, non-profit institution, we also have to pay people for their labor, cover our costs, and generate some revenue for our projects, many of which we offer as free and open to the public. Therefore, we commonly request that applicants for the Summer School do everything that they can to obtain funding from external sources or their home institutions–if they have one–in order to support our alternative educational platform. Revenue that is generated through donations or higher fees for salaried workers is re-destributed in the form of scholarships for those in need.

Financial Aid and Scholarships
Reduced program fees are available in cases of severe economic need, particularly for participants from impoverished backgrounds and regions of the world. If this is your case, please fill out the relevant section on the application. If your are able to cover the program fees or secure funding through an institution or external grant, this allows us the latitude to support more participants from underprivileged backgrounds.
Funding for Travel and Accommodations
We are a small non-profit organization that does not receive any external funding, and we run everything on a shoestring budget. Unfortunately, we do not have the financial means necessary to cover travel and/or accommodation costs for participants. This is one of the reasons that we began the online version of the Summer School in 2018, which is identical in content to the in-person program. Please consider this option if you do not have the means to cover travel and/or accommodations.
Internship and Work-Study Opportunities
There are some limited opportunities for internships and/or work-study to help offset program fees. If you are interested in this option, please write to criticaltheoryworkshop@protonmail.com
